A Growing City


Kelowna is Canada’s second-fastest growing city in terms of number of households, according to Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC) data released today.

The data showed that between 2006 and 2011, the number of households in Kelowna grew from 66,925 to 74,942 – an increase of 12% in those five years.

The fastest-growing city was Moncton, New Brunswick, which saw a 13% increase in the number of househols..

Nationally, the number of households grew 7.1% over the same period, from 12.4 to 13.3 million.

Overall British Columbia grew slightly faster than the national average, with a 7.4% increasese.
